State Homefront

Park was born and raised in the state of Pennsylvania. Pennsylvania made many vital contributions to the war effort. Nearly 900,000 men were sent to fight from the state in one of the armed forces.

Specifically, Park's home was Harrisburg, Dauphin County.

Pennsylvanians on the Homefront desired to do all they could for the war effort and to feel like the were making a difference. Pennsylvania like other states, participated in the rationing of food. The food saved was sent overseas to feed soldiers and allies.

Along with rationing food, Pennsylvanians were asked to ration water for the war effort. Philadelphia enacted a water conversation campaign which would help the war effort.

Pennsylvania became the largest producer of Portland Cement during the war. The cement was shipped overseas to build bases, etc.
